Diango Hernández

b. 1970, Cuba

Cuban video and installation artist, born 1970

Diango Hernández began his artistic practice as co-founder of the de Ordo Amoris Cabinet, a group of artists and designers focused on using recycled materials due to the scarcity of resources in Cuba. Hernández’s work is primarily conceptual, but vivid colours play and important role in his pieces. His practice consists of a collection of objects and materials, he will then later reuse to make his pieces. His artworks emanate simplicity and a minimal aesthetic. But, there is also an attempt to reflect upon different themes such as the clichés of Caribbean culture. His creative practice intends to criticize contemporary society.
