Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art is please to announce the new, open submission initiative for 2010 called ‘Open Glasgow’. ‘Open Glasgow’ is funded by the Scottish Arts Council, and aims to discover ambitious and imaginative artists’ projects, conceived specifically for the city during Festival time.

17TH BIENNALE OF SYDNEY May 12 - Aug 1, 2010
The Biennale of Sydney is held in Sydney's leading museums and galleries and is renowned for showcasing the freshest and most innovative contemporary art from Australia and around the world.
The Artistic Director for the 2010 Biennale is David Elliott, a curator, writer, broadcaster and museum director primarily concerned with modern and contemporary art. Elliott was Director of the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford, England from 1976–1996, Director of Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden from 1996–2001, the founding Director of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan from 2001–2006 and, in 2007 the first Director of Istanbul Modern, Turkey. From 1998–2004, he was President of CIMAM (the International Committee of ICOM for Museums and Collections of Modern Art) and in 2008, he was the Rudolf Arnheim Guest Professor of Art History at Humboldt University, Berlin.

MANIFESTA 8 Opens Autumn 2010
The region of Murcia, Southern Spain, has been selected by the International Foundation Manifesta to be the central location of a new extensive collaborative model for Manifesta 8.
Manifesta and its related activities are an initiative of the International Foundation Manifesta in Amsterdam. Manifesta is the only itinerant biennial in the world. Every two years virtually all parameters change, Manifesta at Home in Amsterdam and its team is the permanent backbone structure of this nomadic biennial and will build a new synergetic team for Manifesta 8 together with colleagues from Murcia. Manifesta 8 is an initiative of the International Foundation Manifesta in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Spain. Manifesta 8 will take place in the autumn of 2010 during 100 days of existence. Exact dates TBC.

Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev has been elected the Artistic Director of the documenta 13, which is scheduled to take place from June 9th, 2012 to September 16th, 2012 in Kassel.
Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev works as a curator and writer in Rome, Turin and New York. She is currently the Chief Curator at the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art in Turin and was the Artistic Director for the 16th Sydney Biennale (2008). From 1999 to 2001 she was Senior Curator of Exhibitions at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center – a MoMA Affiliate. Previously, she organized exhibitions as an independent curator in different countries.
