Jan 16 - Mar 14, 2010
Richard Grayson’s work is energised by the kind of cultural collisions that make contemporary life exciting. Inspired by the correlation of apparently unconnected cultural artifacts and phenomena, Grayson investigates the importance of language and narrative in how we comprehend the world. Through the use of playful or decorative forms, Grayson is able to engage his audience with complex and difficult ideas. We are encouraged to participate in a critical and perhaps subversive view of humanity that encompasses astrology, religion, politics, the global economy and extra-terrestrial life. As a retrospective of his work from the past five years, the exhibition brings together prints, drawings and films by Grayson for the first time.

ANDY WARHOL : WARHOL IS HERE

Warhol is Here at the De La Warr Pavilion will present and explore the work of Andy Warhol in the context of his beliefs, lifestyle and above all, his legacy for the 21st century.

The Pavilion is delighted to announce that one of Warhol’s most important works the Marilyn Diptych (1962), will be part of the exhibition. Other iconic works include prints from the Campbell’s Soup series (1968), a group of Brillo Boxes (1968) and portrait paintings including Gilbert & George (1975), Joseph Beuys (1980) and Robert Mapplethorpe (1983).

CERITH WYN EVANS
Mar 17 - Jun 10, 2012
Private view Sat Mar 17 5pm
Using Cerith Wyn Evan’s ongoing investigation of architecture as a starting point, and specifically curated as a response to the De La Warr Pavilion, the exhibition will consist of three major installations and smaller new works dispersed throughout the building. Taking the entire Pavilion as an opportunity for installation, including our two gallery spaces and the roof-terrace, the exhibition will provide the impetus for a wider programme of related live art, music, performance and film.
