ROOM TO BREATHE FOUR WALKS IN FOUR SEASONS
23 June, 22 September talk/event
Room to Breathe: Four Walks in Four Seasons
38
17 Mar–22 Sep 2018 / Various times

Room to Breathe is an opportunity to spend a day at YSP walking, thinking, talking and gaining some insight into the things that are on your mind. There is time for informal talking as we walk as well as structured space for talking and thinking as a group. The day is structured to help you find areas you need to focus on, decisions you need to make, problems you need to resolve and then have the space to explore them. Walks are led by Group Analyst Chris Powell and GP Andrew Wilson.

We use the open air – to relax bodies, expand minds, remove everyday demands.
We use the group – to provide understanding support and challenge.
We use skilled facilitators – to ensure you focus on things that will make a difference.

You will need:
– Walking shoes or boots adequate for seven miles on hills and footpaths
– Adequate waterproof and warm clothing, including a hat. We will be spending periods of time sitting still; you may want to bring an extra layer
– Packed lunch, water and a hot drink
– A back pack

The day includes:
– Private access to James Turrell’s Deer Shelter Skyspace at the beginning of the day
– Tea, coffee, cake at the end of the day

Please note:
– This event runs from 9.30am–4pm

Click to enlargeGUISEPPE PENONE : A TREE IN THE WOOD
May 26, 2018 - Apr 28, 2019
Penone's poetic practice embodies a lifelong exploration of the complex and fundamental relationships between body, nature, memory, time and art.

KATRINA PALMER : THE COFFIN JUMP
Jun 16, 2018 - Jun 16, 2019
Founded in 1907, the FANY rescued wounded men directly from the battlefields, linking the front line with field hospitals.

Visitors to Yorkshire Sculpture Park will see an intervention in the landscape, comprising an inscribed fence above a trench. Occasionally activated by a horse and rider, Palmer’s work combines sculpture, soundtrack and performance and symbolises the new freedoms afforded to women in the war.

SEAN SCULLY : INSIDE OUTSIDE
Sep 29, 2018 - Jan 6, 2019
Exploring concepts of landscape and abstraction with human experience, the exhibition unites sculpture with important recent paintings on aluminium and linen, together with works on paper. Drawing out ideas pertinent to the singularity of YSP and its landscape, this is a poetic, robust experience that embraces the Park’s topography and Scully’s exceptional vigour, as well as his belief that in life and art there is perpetual discovery.

The exhibition presents an artist at the height of his powers. Aged 72, it is evident that there is no curtailment of Scully’s energy, drive and vision. Keenly aware of the labour that dominated the lives of his mining family, Scully’s practice is one of great rigour and toil, his output prodigious. For YSP he will make new painting and sculpture – resolutely contemporary works that will integrate an inclination towards geometry with the romantic sincerity of landscape painting in the historical tradition.
