JEAN NAPIER : Y RHINOGYDD

Jean Napier MA has spent years exploring the Rhinogydd mountain area of North Wales photographing and writing about the old drovers' roads, coaching routes and gold mines ruins. This exhibition gives you a taste of what she has discovered in this wild and beautiful land.

DEIRDRE MCKENNA: OILEÁIN / YNYSOEDD

Deirdre McKenna spent a month on a residency exchange here in September 2017. Her work is influenced by the traditions of her home in the South West of Ireland. As a native Irish speaker she was interested in exploring the connections between Wales and Ireland through the language and other cultural links. This exhibition is a result of that exploration.

LISA EURGAIN TAYLOR: BEYOND THE WORLD

This exhibition is a series of paintings existing somewhere between reality and fantasy. They are imaginary, otherworldly and mystic places, but have been inspired by the striking mountains of Snowdonia. The paintings convey positivity and hope as light penetrates intensely through the shadows.

PETALS AND CLAWS

Petals and Claws is an exhibition which celebrates the 50th anniversary of Cheshire writer Alan Garner’s The Owl Service, a children’s classic, based on the story of Blodeuwedd, a woman turned into an owl in the medieval Welsh story cycle The Mabinogion.
The participating artists are: Liz Ellis (sculpture), Jenny Ryrie (painting), David Heke (photography and video), Chris Tally Evans (music/soundscape), Bettina Langlois (fine art upholstery), Anna Wigley (poetry and prose).

TABERNACLE ART COMPETITION - THE OWL SERVICE

To mark the 50th anniversary of Alan Garner’s novel, and the publication of the Welsh adaption of the novel in March, this year’s competition themes are based on ‘The Owl Service’.
The annual open competition attracts entries from around the world. The exhibition is selected by expert judges who also award prizes. Awards from the public are presented at the end of the show, so come in and vote!

A response to the publication: Wales’s Best One Hundred Churches by T.J.Hughes. A Sense of Place is a painterly depiction of this inspiring and evocative subject. Focusing on the Mid Wales section of the book, Matthew Wood has produced each painting on location and in one sitting.
