TIM ILIFFE : IN OUR MINDS THERE ARE MANY ROOMS

Through this exhibition Tim Iliffe seeks to open up a dialogue with others regarding mental health. As a result of workshops and mailouts 100s of people have transformed K size medication boxes to reflect their state of mind. These decorated boxes are suspended in columns by Tim to create a fascinating installation.

PHILIPPA ROBBINS : FLOCK

Philippa Robbins was working as artist in residence in Gower where, alongside her paintings, she made a single bird using a discarded steel end-tie and some wood. Since then a colony has grown and this winter Flock, which now comprises 300 industrial birds, will be roosting in the Owen Owen gallery. 

RICHARD DEACON : WEATHER

Internationally renown British sculptor, Richard Deacon, premières his latest work: Weather. The installation consists of three pieces constructed using elements composed of multiple twisted bundles of wood. The rhythms of the elements and the gaps between them evoke, for Richard, associations with rainfall or drifting clouds.

Pete enjoys collaging everyday objects into his paintings, there are often pieces of coffee cups, maps and corrugated cardboard to be discovered. Portions of each painting are retained as drawn elements to reflect the fragility and temporality of the structures. Pete's work is part representation, part visceral interpretation, creating work which full of energy and tension celebrating the beauty and dignity of humble buildings.

KATE PASVOL : GLASS LANDSCAPES

Kate Pasvol has returned to her family roots in this exhibition of landscapes in glass. Her work, made of single and multiple glass blocks containing three dimensional images, reflects the wonderful Welsh landscape. The subjects are based on images and memories of her own walks in Wales.

CLIVE HICKS-JENKINS : SIR GAWAIN AND THE GREEN KNIGHT

This exhibition celebrates the completion of Clive Hicks-Jenkins’ fourteen-print series based on Simon Armitage’s 2007 translation of the medieval poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. As well as the prints there are sketches, maquettes and paintings on the theme drawn from the artist’s archive and private collections.

JO NADEN : THE SANDS OF TIME

Landscape and our relationship to it is the basis of Jo’s practice. Inspired by the rugged stony quality of the interior of the Sculpture Space and its location on the western seaboard of Wales, itself a landscape abundant with evidence of our own prehistory, Jo has created a new work especially for the space. Shown alongside this are her small-scale sculptures.

OPEN EYES : LINDSAY EVANS COLLECTION

This exhibition explores, through the art collection made over the past fifty years by Lindsay Evans, the role of private purchasers in supporting visual culture. Lindsay Evans says he looked at art with open eyes and ‘succumbed to urge and impulse.’ Among the artists represented are Brenda Chamberlain, Alfred Janes, Ceri Richards, Mollie Winterburn and Ernest Zobole.
