SUZANNE MOONEY : THE EDGE OF COLLAPSE
Jan 21 - Mar 25, 2012
Spike Island presents a solo show of new work by Bristol based artist Suzanne Mooney. Her current practice has evolved from an ongoing interest in the potential sculptural qualities of photography and the formulation and mediation of our desire for things. Through careful in-camera composition, glamorous yet enigmatic objects hover within intense and vibrant spaces of representation, unsettling our understanding of both architectural and pictoral space.

Jan 21 - Mar 25, 2012
Haroon Mirza merges techniques, approaches, methodologies and materials from both art and design cultures. Winner of the 2011 Silver Lion Award for ‘Most Promising Young Artist’ at the Venice Biennale, his assemblages combine objects such as furniture and household electronics with video footage and works by other artists to form hybrid acoustic systems that also operate sculpturally. At Spike Island Mirza presents a new body of work in his largest exhibition to date, organised in collaboration with Camden Arts Centre and mima.

DEWAR & GICQUEL
Apr 6 - Jun 17, 2012
Private view Thu Apr 5 6pm - 8pm
Based in Paris and Bordeaux, the artists Daniel Dewar and Grégory Gicquel have been producing work collaboratively since 1998. Working from the position of the amateur or ardent hobbyist, they learn craft techniques which they use to create idiosyncratic and deliberately perverse works of art. This, their first major solo exhibition in the UK, features new work examining the relationship between sculpture and image.

THE ARTISTS' POSTCARD SHOQ
Apr 6 - Jun 17, 2012
Private view Thu Apr 5 6pm - 8pm
From the collection of writer, journalist and broadcaster Jeremy Cooper, this is a remarkable selection of artists’ postcards that includes work by Gilbert and George, Rachel Whiteread, Ellsworth Kelly and Francis Alÿs. Whether by collaging or altering existing cards or by producing new ones, this small but prolific format is one that has been employed creatively by many prominent artists.
