STEPHEN J SHANABROOK : IN PILLS WE TRUST
Jan 21 - Mar 13, 2010
An American artist based out of New York and Moscow, Stephen j Shanabrook will present new works at Orel Art UK which examine the disturbing space between painful and sweet, death and beauty. The primary theme will be the exploration of addiction, the way its soft seductive whisper turns into the heaviness of an everyday fight. In a poetical and tangible way, Shanabrook will explore the side effects of urgent social phenomena - addiction to prescription drugs, to religion and even to one’s own heavy memories. Working with a discomforting yet visually stunning combination of materials, Shanabrook forces the viewer into the dialog with their own unconsciousness.

NICK WALKER : IN GODS WE TRUST
Oct 13 - Nov 27, 2010
The latest body of work created by Nick Walker explores many of the religions we hear about today and their independent belief that their own is the right way. From the outsiders point of view many of the practices and Dogma attached to each, is plainly absurd and is a senseless contradiction of any good that the belief is supposed to deliver. From wars to degradation of women, abuse of children, mass consumerism and mindless violence to other man.... The more familiar acts carried out in the name of religion are what leads to greater separation in society and a distancing from the basic fundamentals of getting along with fellow man.
