NICOLE BACHMANN PERFORMANCE : A—-Z AT MIMOSA HOUSE
Feb 2, 2019
Private view Sat Feb 2 6pm - 9pm
The new performance examines the relationship between voice, gesture and social norms. Gesture, voice and language contribute to an embodied vocabulary through which the three performers navigate fragmentary exchanges, reflecting on the edges of subjectivity, inner landscapes and representation, using sound and movement as a catalyst for transforming expression. And create alternative spaces, away from the power relations and politics that are often involved in it and thus empowering the individual.

The performance is based on a script written by Nicole Bachmann and then developed with the three performers, based on experimentation and improvisation.
The performers are Patricia Langa (E), Sonya Frances Cullingford (UK) and Seven (CA).

UNKNOWN - SCREENING/DISCUSSION : A—-Z AT DANIELLE ARNAUD
Feb 15, 2019
Private view Fri Feb 15 6pm - 9pm
Unknown is part of A—-Z (Anne Duffau) research through the screening of works that explore & defy preconceived/imperialist histories of identities & bodies. Through the scope of narratives & distinctive genre ranging from art, youtube mash-up to music videos, the aim of this screening is to break boundaries & raise interest in terms of displacement, otherness & post gender.

Extending our ongoing research into the notions of amorphous body through technology and inner space, one important point is to embracing the Uses of the Erotic referred to in Audre Lorde to make the personal Political and the bodily a weapon.

GRID IN FREEDOM AND RESTRICTION
Jan 9 - 31, 2019
The grid in art and design has predominantly been a beginning, a tool for scaling, a way to organise space. It is the foundation of order, built upon and obscured, more often than not disappearing in the process. Grids impose themselves, but they also free us from the anxiety of a blank surface. They can make the production of an image/artwork into a game of perfect information. That is to say that the strict adherence to a set structure, using rules and limited elements, instantly generates all potential outcomes. In theory the possibilities are exhaustible, but practically we find that the more we focus the deeper the rabbit hole goes. It seems that no amount of limitations reduces the permutations to a manageable number.
